On Shift Short Stories: Volume 4- "Note to self".

En route Steel Mill- Code response, SECONDS after keys to our Meat Wagon make flesh contact with my palm, from off duty crew...no checking supplies for us tonight...Again. Hello 1st shift of the week, Typical. >:-/

Me- "Ya know, I hope it's a crushing injury...haven't had a good one in a while; Better be!"

Skat Man- "You can have it then...probably gonna be something stupid though."

On-scene:

*Nod to friend approaching, on Engine Co., while getting the gurney ready; Skat Man taking off, over to LT for info...leading Pt over*. 

-Firefighter Known for Years: "He-hey! You drivin'? You're poor partner- always attracting bad sh*t when he's in the back."

1 Minute on-scene...

-Me: "I prefer looking at it as- *Finger quotation marks* Skill building, thank you very much!"

-Firefighter Known for Years: "So, *LOL*...well- it's barely attached; snapped the bone. Big chunk- about 150lbs of it, fell on it...crushed it big time!"

-Me: "Aww Maaaan..." *Face of Oops*. "I'm an A**hole..."

-Firefighter Known for Years: "Uuh, why? Lol..."

Skat Man, LT & "Mr. But I play guitar!"- getting closer; Large mound of gauze raised above head, in tow...2 minutes on-scene.

-Me: "...got pulled out early again...so, said it 'better be for a crushing injury'...".

"Mr. But I Play Guitar"- climbing in. Belted; buckled, ready to go.

-Skat Man making eye contact: "We're good to go after we get paper...*leaning towards us- away from Pt*...I'm gonna save it *smile & a nod* so lets go once we got it."

-Me: *Nod of acceptance* "Check. Waiting in paper." *Closing doors*

2.5 minutes on-scene...waiting.

-Firefighter Known for Years: "Man...he's gonna lose it too *Shaking head*...Yep, you're definitely going to hell. *Sarcastic grin* But- your hair looks nice *Nudge* So, at least you have THAT goin' for ya. *Wink, Wink* How fast can you drive?". *Wink, Wink*

LT dots report with a purpose *Que paper tear*; LT looking for a receiver- target acquired...

3 minutes on-scene...

-Me: *Pass complete- reverse pass off to Skat Man: running against the clock*..."Pffff! We'll be at *Insert Local ER here* before you get back to the station...silly question. Lol"

-Firefighter Known for Years: "Challenge accepted!"

What was learned in the 3.5 minutes on-scene??..Note to self, as a "Black Cloud"- Do NOT use the words "Better be *fill in blank*" while en route to a call! No...matter...WHAT!
